I forgot for a while that I also had a personal life.
I worked, worked, worked.
I hid behind my trainings, all the coaching and laptop.
I got sucked into working IN my business, not ON my business….and in the process I forgot how to simply have fun.
Don’t fall into the same trap.
Yes.. You need to work hard in the beginning of your business.
You have to work in your business before you can work on your business but there is more to it than that. I always talk a lot about purpose and talents, and how they can drive and propel you forward in your business. But the truth also is: you need to practice your real talents. Find the right context and role so that you can train the muscles of your talents.
And all of this takes work… a lot of it :)
It takes a while before you feel that you can dance on the dance floor of your talents. Especially when you have been living a life where you have not been living your real talents for a long time.
And when you are practicing something new you can fall back to old patterns many times. It can feel scary to be seen for who you really are and charge money for what you love to do the most.
It is true that when you work from your real passion and purpose, you will cross a river that will lead into an ocean of fulfillment, joy and pleasure. All rivers lead to oceans. Oceans of real contribution. And sharing this excitement with the people around you …whether it is with clients, old friends , new friends, lovers, partners and family is important. Not only for yourself but also for your business.
One of the biggest lies that we have been told is that we should struggle in life. That is not what life is meant for. Life is given to you to find out what you’re meant to do and share this joy with others. Living from interdependence is the best feeling in the world. That is how you can make the biggest contribution as a mother, daughter , friend, lover etc. And the funny thing is that yes although it can feel like the path of the most resistance in the beginning it will soon feel like the path of the greatest reward with least resistance. You are following your flow. And results and growth will come way quicker.
But it will take work, and you will make mistakes
Like in my first year of entrepreneurship. After so many failures in corporate life, I sold a self-created talent training to the top of Boeing for €7000,-. I hired other trainers to work with me and we just did it. Did I feel scared and nervous? Hell yes! But did I learn from it and did I feel excited afterwards? Hell yes!
I just want to say that if you take care of your energy, your energy takes care if the rest. Take time to enjoy your personal life as well. So what are you going to do to take care of your energy today? 😘
When you find your thing it doesn’t feel suffocating. You crossed the river with your talents. You are operating from your genius zone and this river zone leads to oceans full of life changing opportunities for yourself and your clients.
Like Jacquelijne who after Rock Your Talent found her ‘thing’, her niche and own coachingstyle from the start and developed her own coaching program. She got amazing results with her client – plus testimonials – within the first month because she is doing what she is meant to do. . Jacquelijn helps busy moms who are forgetting to take care of themselves, so they can find more peace and get more energy.
“One session with Jacquelijn has brought me more than 1 year of coaching. I feel much lighter and this is working through to every aspect of my life. I would recommend her to anyone!”
Or Mirjam Klompenhouwer – Strategic Talent Partner and Coach for Lawyers and Law Firms at Engage Talent who also found her thing and own coaching style from the start.
So you see, my first passion is that you work, engage, create and build from your passion, and become an entrepreneur working from the power of your true talent.
However, all of them had the right strategy and guidance from the start of their journey into entrepreneurship. They made sure they had a clear path and a solid foundation to build upon. From there, their business could grow and evolve. The RIGHT way.
You can have all the passion, energy, conviction and talent, but not the right strategy. You will start with great enthusiasm, but after a few months of even years into the process, it is not working and you have to switch and keep switching to your business successfully. Your business becomes a struggle, you are wasting a lot of energy by trying to invent the wheel again. If you could only focus on what your talent is and use the business strategies of successful people, you will advance so much faster!
Coming back to the work: – YES- building a business takes time and hard work. It will take you time to build and manage everything. But again, you do not have to start from scratch here. If you have access to the experience and life lessons of those that went before you- how much wiser would you be at the start? Learning how to manage your business and your energy that you put in the business will make the journey so much better.
I have learnt from experience that if you focus on what you are MEANT to do – and learn how to manage your energy the right way, you will also have time to enjoy life.
So no…you can’t skip the working hard part. But you can make it way more comfortable and quicker than the journey I had to take. (which took me 7 years as I was trying to figure it out on my own…don’t be like me :)
I guess my point is – there is more to building the business you are meant to build than just a passion.
- You need to feel a real passion to help your ideal clients.
- You need to know your clients, know your talent and how to use it to resolve the problems of your clients (Strategy)
- You need to know your worth (Pricing)
- You must get results for your clients. (Work)
- And if it takes more time. Own it and help them to the finish line until they get results. (Ownership and more Hard work :-)
You need a solid basis. But when you have these it will become much easier to do this.
Your business can be your passion in life, but it can also be your prison. Don’t let yourself get trapped in thoughts of self-doubt, thinking small, focusing on irrelevant details or getting stuck into information or training overload. YES, you need a strategy and a framework to get started, but you also need to WORK. Not just in the business, but also on the business. In order to move forward, you need to start to take consistent bigger steps towards your goals.
Just like Jacquelijn and Mirjam who wanted to do it right and made their business work from the start – and now they are enjoying working from their true passion.
Mission accomplished :-)
